This iconic bracelet design created by Hector Aguilar of the Taller Borda is timeless. The bracelet has been recreated by Maestro Jose Luis Flores with full attention to detail and quality. Sr. Luis is a master silversmith and is the last surviving silversmith still producing who actually worked with Hector Aguilar. The title of maestro or master silversmith was not given lightly at the Taller Borda. This design is documented in the book “Silver Masters of Mexico” on page 130.
Hector Aguilar, Taller Borda, Vintage .940 Silver Screwback Earrings
These vintage earrings were produced in the studio of Hector Aguilar. Prior to the establishment of his own studio or “taller” in 1939, Hector Aguilar worked as a manager for William Spratling at “Las Delicias”. The designs of Hector Aguilar frequently feature pre-Columbian motifs and show the influence of Willliam Spratling. The work of Hector Aguilar has been featured in many museum publications and exhibitions and exemplifies the best of the golden age of silver jewelry production in Taxco, Mexico.

Hector Aguilar Design Vintage Pre-Eagle Mexican Silver & Green Agate Bracelet by Unattributed Artist
The elegant and simple design of this vintage Mexican bracelet highlights the natural beauty of the moss green agate stones beautifully. This bracelet is pictured in the book “Silver Masters of Mexico” on page 19 and is attributed to Hector Aguilar. The care taken with the hinge work and the cleaness of the silver work framing the stones indicates this was made by a silversmith with a great deal of experience who most likely worked in the Hector Aguilar studio. This bracelet is a great example of 1940’s Mexican silverwork sold in the finer shops of the period.
