These classic earrings were originally created by the William Spratling studio in Taxco, Mexico. William Spratling was the first to create silver jewelry for the tourist trade to Taxco during the 1930’s. His designs frequently incorporated native Mexican stones such as amethyst and obsidian and exotic woods including rosewood and ebony. Spratling felt that the native stones and woods complimented the rustic look of the silver jewelry.
