This vintage necklace is an iconic design from the studio of William Spratling of Taxco. William Spratling was the first to produce silver jewelry for the tourist trade in Taxco, Mexico. Spratling designs have been featured in numerous museum publications and exhibitions. This design was originally created during the first design period of William Spratling which was from 1931-1946.

Details: Necklace has a wearable length of 18 1/4 inches and is 1 inch wide. Weight is 4 ounces or 115 grams. Markings are "980" and "WS". This necklace is composed of fine .980 silver which has a higher silver content than sterling silver and has a simple hook closure. This necklace was created during the first design period from 1931-1946. Due to the construction techniques, the necklace was most likely made in the early 1930's.
