William Spratling Design Vintage Carved Malachite Frog Earrings

William Spratling Design Vintage Carved Malachite Frog Earrings

This design was originally created in the William Spratling studio during the first design period from 1931-1946. Spratling was inspired to create this design with the purchase of 5 carved amethyst frogs from the Monte Alban archeological site in Oaxaca, Mexico. The silversmith who crafted these earrings was no doubt either employed by William Spratling or inspired by the frog design earrings crafted in the Spratling studio. The use of stone material is different from original Spratling designs in that Spratling frogs were either silver or amethyst.
