This very dramatic design was originally produced by the Tane studios of Mexico City circa 1960. Tane is one of the foremost design houses currently producing new innovative designs in Mexico.The necklace was modeled on a Tarascan copper axe. The indigenous Tarascans were known for their metal working skills in pre-Columbian Mexico. This collar necklace may be worn with interchangable pendants for increased fashion mileage.

Details: The necklace has a wearable length of 16 inches. Necklace weight is 1.6 ounces. Markings are "970 Mexico". Content of the collar necklace is .970 silver. The necklace is closed with an ingenous hook and eye incorporated to one side that is part of the design. The necklace can be unlatched with the back part swinging easily to allow placement about the neck. The Tarascan axe pendant is 2 3/4 inches by 2 3/4 inches independent of the collar. Weight for the pendant alone is 2.3 ounces. Markings are "970 Mexico". The pendent is detachable from the collar with a shepard's hook attachment. Content of the pendant is fine .970 silver which has a higher silver content than sterling, is more resistant to tarnish and has a whiter hue.
