This baroque style was created in the “Matl” studio of Mexico City in the 1930’s by the designer Matilde Poulat. The styling is a unique combination of baroque colonial art from Spain and native pre-Columbian art in Mexico. Matl jewelry is distinctly Mexicano in it’s display of rustic elegance. This jewelry set of necklace and bracelet is rare in that it can be combined to be worn as a long chain or worn seperately as a necklace and bracelet. This combination set is not from the Matl studio but is inspired by the Matl style.
