This fabulous pre-Columbian motif necklace, bracelet & earrings was influenced by the artistic heritage of Mexico. William Spratling was very influential in introducing the use of pre-Columbian design in his silver jewelry in the 1930’s when the tourist trade was just begining in Mexico. Prior to the arrival of Fred Davis & William Spratling, both from the U.S.A., jewelry design was influenced by the colonial heritage of Mexico and was usually gold filigree. The use of silver and pre-Columbian design was revolutionary at the time. The patina that time has bestowed on this jewelry has highlighted the design and it is very striking.

The necklace is composed of fine .980 silver and has a simple hook closure. Bracelet has a wearable length of 7 inches and is 7/8 inches wide. Weight is 29 grams or 1 ounce. Markings are "980 Made in Taxco". The bracelet is composed of fine .980 silver and has a tongue in box closure. Earrings have a length of 7/8 inches and are 1/2 inch wide. Weight for the pair is 6 grams or .25 ounces. Markings are "Silver Mexico". The earrings have their original screwbacks in place. The entire set is composed of fine .980 silver which has a higher silver content than sterling silver and is more resistant to tarnish and has a whiter color. The jewelry set was crafted prior to 1948.
